FAQ's - 100% Recycled Bottles
Why has Praise moved to using 100% recycled plastic for mayo and aioli bottles and jars?
As part of our Praise purpose of making every day better we are committed to making every day more sustainable too.
Our newly launched Praise bottles will be made from 100% recycled PET because we want to close the loop. This will help create a circular economy in Australia, where products and materials are recycled and remain in use, with little to no waste generated.
What type of plastic goes into making Praise 100% recycled bottles and jars?
Our new mayo and aioli bottles and jars are made of rPET. The ‘r’ stands for recycled and the ‘PET’ is the type of plastic. rPET is made from recyclables collected from your kerbside bins and Australia’s container return schemes. These recyclables are sorted at MRFs, (Material Recovery Facilities) with rigid PET (or rPET) packaging like our bottles and jars sent to a recycler to be reprocessed into food grade rPET resin.
As part of our goal to build a local circular economy for plastic our rPET is 100% Australian sourced post-consumer material.
Are all components of Praise bottles and jars made from recycled materials?
Currently, only the bottle and jars are made from 100% recycled materials. Our lids, labels and freshness seals are currently not made from 100% recycled materials due to a lack of viable solutions and packaging technologies available at this stage.
We are committed to continual improvement across our packaging, which includes a goal to utilise 100% sustainable materials by 2030. Utilising Australian made and processed, post-consumer recycled plastic in our bottles and jars is a great step on our ongoing sustainability journey.
Are these new bottles and jars recyclable?
Currently, only the mayo and aioli bottles and jars are made from 100% recycled materials. As part of our commitment to building a circular economy and closing the loop, we are proud that our bottles and jars are not only made using recycled materials, but they are also recyclable.
How can I recycle my Praise bottles and jars?
We know recycling can be confusing which is why we have started using the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) on our packaging. According to the ARL, all Praise PET and rPET bottles and jars are recyclable through kerbside recycling systems.
Further, our lids are also recyclable. Instructions on the label will tell you whether to leave the cap/lid on or place it the recycling bin separately.
What is Praise doing beyond recycled bottles?
Sustainability has always been part of helping us be better and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, which includes moving to using 100% Renewable Electricity across our owned manufacturing facilities in 2021. We’re achieving this by purchasing renewable electricity certificates.
