Practice makes perfect. Here’s a few tactics to help you save more food and money:

  • Check your food stocks at home before going food shopping.
  • Eat fresh food like meat, bread, salad, vegetables and cheese first. You can even create an ‘Eat Me First’ section in your fridge.
  • Once a week, make a meal with food that needs using up. Just a few ingredients can make a meal. Found a couple of potatoes? Make a bowl of wedges and aioli. A small amount salad leaves make a great wrap, just add Mayo. A few veggies to get through? Roast them up and top with aioli. Get creative!
  • Before cooking a meal, check how many household members will be eating.
  • Measure your household food waste over a week. You’ll be surprised how much goes to waste.
  • Store bread in an airtight container, nobody likes a stale sandwich.
