Mayonnaise Packaging FAQs

Q: Why has the bottle changed?
A: Goodman Fielder recently moved Praise Mayonnaise bottles from 100% recycled PET (rPET) back to virgin PET. This change was made because natural colour variation in rPET (which comes in the form of a grey, blue or green tinge) affected the appearance and quality perception of the product on shelf.
Q: Is the new bottle still recyclable?
A: Yes – the bottles are still fully recyclable.
Q: Does this mean you’re no longer using recycled plastic?
A: Goodman Fielder remain committed to investigating how to expand the use of sustainable materials across other products within the Goodman Fielder portfolio.
Q: Why not fix the rPET colour issue?
A: rPET can vary in colour depending on the recycled materials used. While it’s great for many products, it wasn’t the right fit at this time for maintaining the visual standard of our Praise mayonnaise range.
Q: Does this mean Goodman Fielder is stepping back from its sustainability goals?
A: Goodman Fielder remains committed to working to minimize both how our packaging is sourced and made and what happens to our packaging once our products are consumed. We continue to work to ensure the materials that we use are designed for recyclability and will continue to investigate opportunities to minimize the environmental impact of our packaging.
